While I depict both hot and cold people before and after a swim, there is an illusion as where they are. The swimmer far left, although only up to her ankles in the ice water, she appears to be in panel and not completely in the same space as the others. Second left has a shadow behind her, but then Lions head mountain is behind her. I am painting instinctively, what ever comes to mind in colour or form. Nothing really needs to make sense except the joy of a fresh painting. As a graphic designer, I have the ability to create balance and design at the same time. - John Pace, 2025
